Yerba Buena Gardens Children's Center | San Francisco, CA
Designed in association with Adèle Naudé Santos & Associates, the program and buildings are the culmination of a yearlong process involving extensive community group forums, public workshops and user meetings, and a continuous dialogue with the Owners, the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency. Through collaboration with the local community, the nature of the neighborhood has changed forever.
The Children’s Center includes a glass-enclosed carousel; the “Zeum”, a 100,000 sq ft discovery and performance facility for children; a state of the art childcare center; a bowling center; a restaurant; and a National Hockey League size skating rink. The buildings surround a children’s garden designed for both intimate and large-scale activities and discoveries for children of all ages.
