Maria X Martinez Health Resource Center
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
The project is a 2-story outpatient clinic within a 6-story supporting housing and multi-use building that consists of residential units for formerly homeless persons, the CHEFS program that prepares students for careers in food industry and an out-patient clinic will serves the city’s homeless population. The 18,0000MSF clinic includes street medicine, urban health, dental services, and the headquarters for San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team (SF HOT) which provides case management services to people in the community.
The first floor of the clinic consists of triage rooms, exam rooms, labs, dental clinic, dental lab and consultation rooms used for behavioral health visits. The second floor includes administrative offices, multi-purpose rooms and support areas.
An on-stage/off-stage approach is used to enhance the patient experience while creating a comprehensive staff area. The circulation of patients and care team members is segregated for increased efficiency and workflow and for ensuring confidentiality. Every exam room has 2 entrances; one opening from secured corridors where patients are escorted to the room, the other one opening to the team collaboration area (off-stage) where care-givers work and have direct, easy access to the exam rooms.
The building is LEED “Gold” certified. Some of the sustainable design strategies include: high efficiency mechanical, lighting, solar hot water, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and finishes with high recycled content.
